With Umbra, Snow can attain a greater maximum HP pool than any other playable character. This weapon line has Improved Ward which bestows improved defenses to the whole party. Taming Pole while not being the most powerful in terms of raw damage, bears the title of the best weapon due to being a versatile pick for an extremely powerful character - Fang.
Taming Pole does have 40 less Strength than the Dragoon Lance, and Stagger Lock seems like a disadvantage, but both are negligible in a team dynamic. The RNG should seem like a downside however in most encounters the player will be powerful enough to end them in less than ten seconds.
