Why jazmine sullivan quit music

Four months later, Sullivan, 33, laughs when asked how gratified she is by all the admiration for her signature vocal acrobatics. But when people respond to my writing, to the emotion in my music, that means way more to me. A post shared by Jazmine Sullivan jazminesullivan. To be sure, the singing — gritty, desperate, yet never out of control — is magnificent too.

More Lana Del Rey drama ensues after her diversity comments about new album art. Some fans disagree. The new artists she does hear, like H.

But she seems to know that the culture is smiling on her right now — and that she would be wise to capitalize on the attention.

COVID might make that difficult, she admits. Missy writes hot joints for "da moment" nothing per se Jazmine's voice is entirely too dope and people are waiting for a talent like hers to shine to it's fullest potential She needs to be writing and singing music that has depth to match her tone and talent THAT'S what she needs to be singing!!!!! Or at least, songs of that calibre!!!! I know I'm going to ruffle some feathers with this but even her first single If that girl got the right team of writers and producers together!?!?!??!?!

These first two albums ain't doing it, to go to the next level she's going to need the writing talent and production that can take her there. Who and what she's working with right now ain't it I agree whole heartedly. There are not too many good singers.

Jazmine is a great singer!! Anthony Hamilton, Jazmine Sullivan to name a few are singers of these days that have the pipes to sing anything. It really would be a shame if Jazmine retires. I bought both her albums and loved them. However, I always said that she doesn't have the right team to promote her talent. I love Missy Elliot, but she is not a fit with Jazmine. I think Jazmine needs a more older experience producer Babyface. The girl is a diamond and I was looking at her to blosom to one of the biggest of our times!!

She just need to stay strong and be herself forget what people are trying to mold her into. But don't give up!! All of the storms, rain, snow, sleet, sun, will only make her blosom to be the greatest. And she most definitely is!! Don't think for a second that because you are a "fan," and have followed her career that you have any clue of what goes on behind the scenes.

No artist, independent or major, aspires to sell 50, That are positives and negatives with both sides and there is nothing wrong with signing with a major if the company really believes in your and backs up their words with the necessary staff to see that a project is successul. Therefore, Jazmine is in control of what beat she chooses to write to. Nobody is making her write what she writes.

She's in charge in that regard. And if you compare the song to being Lauryn Hill esq, that negates your entire argument that it's nothing special, as she's one of the greats. I understand the purpose of blogs - to make unimportant people feel like their ideas matter - but your "truth" is nothing short of an opinion.

No clue of what goes on behind the scenes? No need to be snarky or snide, this is an OPEN forum where ppl can express their "opinions" or whatever you want to call it. There's a major difference between an "informed opinion" and just an opinion, hopefully this response shows you the difference. Considered still somewhat of a "new" artist, she probably has very little control over these type of decisions.

You missed the whole point of me referencing 50K in sales on a major vs. Point was Again, given what I know of her prior to her major label and deal and her sales numbers now Do you know Jazmine's latest soundscan numbers?

As far as labels having the staff to support artists Most of these labels are a downsized version of what labels used to be, basically a skeleton crew. Prime example, name at least 3 artist within the last 5 years who didn't already have a million views on youtube and or a gazillion followers thru social media who a major label signed and just pumped money into them? Not for nothing, she has gotten a considerable amount of support from the label though radio promotions and airplay, her music just isn't connecting with the wider audience that it needs to by major label standards.

You're all caught up in other singers and who's doing what creatively and "original" as you say, but at the end of the day this is a BUSINESS and either you're making money for the label or your not. I mentioned her only for the fact that the song sounded like a Lauryn Hill song. Obviously there's no connection between the two like you tried to infer because if there was we wouldn't be having THIS conversation Bottom line is, she's depressed and music is no longer fun because she's feeling the heat from her label for not selling enough units.

The major labels are owned by conglomerates who only care about the bottom line. Either you can make music that they can market and that will connect with a wide enough audience for them to make a return on their investment or they will kick you to the curb.

When I knew she signed with J Records, I already saw this meltdown coming, expect her to get dropped next. I'd be surprised if she even sees another album on J Records. You want to discuss art and argue over opinions, when the discussion should be about commerce economics and should include facts.

Your turn :. I have to disagree with you. There are Plenty of Indie and Major artists that would be satisfied with selling 50K copies. Gone are the days where everyone sold a million. Now TOP artists are selling k first week. Great albums are usually slow simmers anyway.

These are good numbers in todays time with all of the downloading and free music available. Rihanna only sold K her last album with ALL of that promo. Gone are the days when album sales shud be a key indicator of success. There are hundreds of successful artists that make great money touring the world. Most of them couldn't care less about radio play. Nobody respects the radio anymore.

Anyone who judges success only by radio play is not a Real music lover and wouldn't understand the Real game anyway. Check out all of these festivals with hndreds of thousands of attendees. The game has imprisioned some of our minds and ears. You go, girl! Meek Mill here. Myeisha Essex Posted May 16, Jazmine Sullivan.
